"Kaga Futokyuri" - Kaga Fat Cucumber

A remarkably big cucumber locally grown in Kanazawa.

These cucumber have a length of 22 cm to 27 cm (8.6” to 10.6”) and a 6 cm to 7cm (2.3” to 2.7”) in diameter and can weigh up to 1 kilo. Their thickness make them resemble more like a gourd than a cucumber.
They are often prepared cooked and covered with dressing or vinegar.
Their unique taste and color are also perfect for clam chowders or Chinese soups and stews.
