Only small amounts of these seasonal shrimps can be caught yearly. They are usually only available in the areas close to the ports they are brought in.
Having them as sashimi, experiencing their both tenderness and chewy texture can put a smile on people’s faces. They also taste fantastic without removing their shells and sprinkled with salt. Even their heads are edible. The smaller ones can be used for deep-fried dishes or tempura.
They are often served in local restaurants or sushi parlors.
