"Jiro-ame" – White Candy
Sugarless candy that even infants can consume.
This gentle sweet candy is made from rice and malt. It was invented by a well-known confectionery shop owner in Kanazawa in 1830. They are sold as a piece of candy, but they can also be used as an ingredient for other confectioneries.
It was first created as inexpensive nutrition for infants during a local famine. They contain no sugars or artificial sweeteners. Both infants and elderly persons can easily consume these candies.
